Happy 2012

Hope your holiday was a good one. Some quick notes to start off the new year:

* We are now exactly five weeks out from the February 7 publication date of The Mirage. Yes, I am excited. My first public event will be on February 9 at 7:00 PM at the Elliott Bay Book Company: a reading and Q&A with The Stranger‘s Paul Constant. If you can’t make it that night, don’t worry, I’ll be doing plenty of other events in and around Seattle and up and down the West Coast. The full book tour schedule is here.

* If you don’t want to wait till February 7 to read The Mirage, there’s still time to sign up for the Mirage ARC giveaway on Goodreads.com, which runs through this Saturday. (You will need a U.S. mailing address to participate; I apologize again to Canadian and overseas fans who are shut out by this.)

* If you missed my “Best of 2011 list,” it’s worth checking out; there are some great books and authors here:

* Finally, as you’ve probably heard, 2012 is also the year of the predicted Mayan Apocalypse. For those skeptics wondering “When the world doesn’t end on December 21, what will the next end-of-the-world deadline be?”, here’s a handy compilation of doomsdays (hat tip to James Nicoll). My money’s on 4.5 billion A.D.
